God vs. Money

Posted in Killer Ideas by jaredtech on the February 8, 2006

It’s a fundamental, universal law the no one can serve two masters. It’s either God vs. Money. You work your ass for the money or let the money work for you. The first one is obvious, the other one will not need a genius to figure out. If you invest you hard-earned money into something like HYIPs, Autosurfs, Mutual Funds, Stock Market and all other form of non-tangible business, you still work for the money for Chrissake! Because you have to watch your money, you need to sleep later than ever to make it grow or keep it from sliding down. Worse part is you’re not in control of your money because someone is holding it for you in a given timeframe, still holds true within the trading time of any stock market.

The other option which does not require a genius to figure out is to get in to a business, a tangible one, something that you’re actually creating for the benefit of mankind(you know, the job-generating stuff) it’s mutual, money working for you and you working for money. Doing what you like and what you understand and taking profit from it. So where’s the risk?(=Not knowing what you’re doing). Competitors? Let’s say they could catch up after 4 years, but that’s the game they are going to play, catching up forever. Investing is a lonely business, when you win, everyone wins. When you lose, it’s only you taking a unique painful loss.

For me, I will rather take Paul Graham’s pattern when everything start’s smoothly, I will reinvest on another startup, something that I believe is compelling and work thru it until it’s a grown up and sell it. I believe that’s what I am going to be. Farming the Silicon Valley way.
