State of Emergency…My Ass

Posted in Java by jaredtech on February 26, 2006

How come these gentlemen can’t accept that the President is basically more powerful than them? I have nothing more to say because a lot of people has been talking about ths crap lately and I am barely interested, so here’s my suggestion. Go here:

Not your cup of tea? Of course it will never be your cup of tea. But somehow it will help cure your lack-of-attention syndrome and stop pretending to be heroes. Because these are the real heroes of our time:

The OFWs, giving up their time to take care of someone else’s children instead of their own in return for a better life. Silenty grinding their bones and joint every single day just to make their distant loved ones happy. These are our heroes.

The Singapore Idol(TM) Auditions, extended

Posted in Cameradventure by jaredtech on February 12, 2006

Under the hot sun for 30 minutes to an hour, then another half-hour in some holding area outside Cineleisure, then going inside the airconditioned theatre and what do you get? A singing voice way beyond performance level. I am not sure if this was done in purpose to weed out the best of the best in the very last minute of the Singapore Idol(TM) audition. At least some of the aspiring SI’s are still in high spirits.

Sometimes it’s suprisingly funny, there are candidates that are too shy to be photographed. But this is Singapore Idol right? So leave your inhibitions at home!

Everyone who joined the auditions knew what they’re getting into(I think). Being the center of attention carries a lot of pressure too. Being ready to speak(articulately) at anytime is really a big plus, not with the auditions but with the public.

Charm and charisma will get you a long, long way. If you have it, by all means use it.

It’s nice to be important and it’s also important to be nice. ;)

Isn’t it inspiring when there are smiling crews ready in hand?

Even if you’ll not going to be the next Singapore Idol(TM) , at least you got new friends to hang out with.

Though some really got the looks isn’t it?

God vs. Money

Posted in Killer Ideas by jaredtech on February 8, 2006

It’s a fundamental, universal law the no one can serve two masters. It’s either God vs. Money. You work your ass for the money or let the money work for you. The first one is obvious, the other one will not need a genius to figure out. If you invest you hard-earned money into something like HYIPs, Autosurfs, Mutual Funds, Stock Market and all other form of non-tangible business, you still work for the money for Chrissake! Because you have to watch your money, you need to sleep later than ever to make it grow or keep it from sliding down. Worse part is you’re not in control of your money because someone is holding it for you in a given timeframe, still holds true within the trading time of any stock market.

The other option which does not require a genius to figure out is to get in to a business, a tangible one, something that you’re actually creating for the benefit of mankind(you know, the job-generating stuff) it’s mutual, money working for you and you working for money. Doing what you like and what you understand and taking profit from it. So where’s the risk?(=Not knowing what you’re doing). Competitors? Let’s say they could catch up after 4 years, but that’s the game they are going to play, catching up forever. Investing is a lonely business, when you win, everyone wins. When you lose, it’s only you taking a unique painful loss.

For me, I will rather take Paul Graham’s pattern when everything start’s smoothly, I will reinvest on another startup, something that I believe is compelling and work thru it until it’s a grown up and sell it. I believe that’s what I am going to be. Farming the Silicon Valley way.
